MoveOn.org Attacks Cornyn
February 12, 2009
It should come as no surprise to you the Democrat attack machine has been dusted off and its sights are set on Senator John Cornyn.MoveOn.org is going after Senator Cornyn and Republicans with misleading ads designed to smear the record of anyone who stands in their way.
In the past, their ads have been called a “whopper,” “wrong, ” “false,” and “off base” by the non-partisan organization FactCheck.org. MoveOn’s attacks are a perfect example of special-interest groups playing politics while there is important work to be done.
Republicans in Congress support the President’s call for swift action on the economy. But Democrats are misreading President Obama’s “mandate.” Pork, payoffs and pet projects are not a fair substitute for fiscally sound economic stimulus.
A handful of wealthy activist liberals and powerful unions fund MoveOn.org, and they are chomping at the bit to receive every dollar Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi have earmarked to line their pockets.
While this legislation is being sold as an $800 billion stimulus package – an outrageous sum – economists say American taxpayers will be on the hook for more than $9.7 TRILLION!
Republicans offered another way, a way that would not harness future generations with the debt of today. The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office said our plan would create 6 million jobs (twice as many as the Democrat plan) and cost less than half as much. But Congressional Democrats refuse to make changes.
President Obama pledged a more transparent government, but Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid created this spending bill behind closed-doors on Capitol Hill, without significant input from Republicans.
This bill is loaded with reckless special-interest projects, designed not to stimulate our economy, but to stimulate Democrat-sponsored government projects.
I am disappointed that what could have been a bipartisan success has resulted in a bill passed along party lines. Overspending is what landed our nation in the economic turmoil we find ourselves in today, and the partisan spending bill passed by Senate Democrats only exacerbates this irresponsible behavior — increasing our nation’s debt limit by nearly two trillion dollars — to $12.14 trillion.
I am committed to finding real, bipartisan solutions to the economic crisis. Solutions that will have an immediate, stimulative effect. Solutions that will first fix the housing crisis. Solutions that will create long-term private sector jobs and provide broad-based tax relief.
Please take a few minutes to show your support for those with the courage to stand firm. I hope you will visit NRSC.org for research and news about how Republicans are working for you right now.

Since when did MoveOn.org lie...all the things I have checked on snopes.com have been factual and I do check as I wish others would. I think the best thing you could do for our government especially where health insurance reform is concerned is either get out of the way and let it happen or resign. You are NOT doing your constituents any favors.
Senator Cornyn, thank you for standing up for me, my family and my wonderful country! Please continue to do all you can to protect us all. We have an evil government at this time, I don't recognize it anymore. Can you point me to a town hall meeting near me (77331?) God bless you and God bless America!
Don't support energy bill. It is a bogus bill. Gore has enough money; doesn't need any more at least from global warming. Maybe he can think up some other cause.
Thanks
